This time nothing can go wrong. In the past year, Sony Ericsson has had problems, especially with the latest handsets which proved to have some teething problems. So far, with Sony Ericsson’s first Android mobile X10, we found no evidence to suggest that it will run into the same setbacks. Overall a great phone with some innovative software making it a real joy to use.

On the contrary, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 feels stable and easy to use. After a couple of hours with the X10 you start to recognise that other phones are a little over complex. Part of that impression is of course down to Android, which basically makes the phone rest on a modern and powerful platform. The advantages of Android are, just briefly that you have the opportunity to work with multiple programs simultaneously in a simple manner. You just press the button in the middle of the screen to access the menu and start something new, and hold the same button to switch between active applications. In addition, a software shop with a wide range of programs and additions to the phone are available to work with the Google services such as e-mail and maps.
It’s good to see what Sony Ericsson has done more to distinguish their phones from the crowd. At the Mobile World trade show in Barcelona in February 46 different handsets with Android were showcased, so it’ clear the Swedish / Japanese hybrid company needed something extra if they wanted to stand out. TimeScape and MediaScape is a really nice piece of work by Sony Ericsson and helps the X10 stand out.
MediaScape – Xperia X10
Here’s a video to show you how nice the screens are on MediaScape…
MediaScape is a programme based on the music in your phone and then can tell you if you like music also will like. It is the central idea, in fact with both MediaScape and the Timescape; to find content that is relevant and advise on other related information. MediaScape serves as inspiration and guide to new music you might like. It is here you go when you want to play music or watch videos. In the music tab is the top half of the display of thumbnails of the latest songs, your favorite songs. Bottom half shows the music from the Sony Ericsson PlayNow music store. The music player displays your albums, artists, songs or genres.
Uploading YouTube Videos With Xperia X10
This video shows how easy it is!
Go to the home screen (you can even choose to replace the startup screen with the TimeScape) and fine Timescape. It is a function that collects most of what happens in your phone. Timescape is your call history, but does the same for a lot more features too. This collection of received e-mails, text messages, facebook posts and Twitter. Also, if you want it, here are pictures you have taken, calls you made and the music you played on your phone.
On the visual menu of TimeScape, each event is represented by an image and presented in one of the thumbnails in the screen. The cards you scroll between and 5-6 short visual display of the screen. You click on a thumbnail to read more and can then take you directly to the program, whether it’s Facebook, email or SMS. There are graphical effects and semi-translucent animations, it is sufficiently fast and smooth to be a pleasure to interact with.
A really good web browser comes with the Xperia. Even large websites, such as a major newspaper, is quick to navigate around. There is no multi-touch when zooming with two fingers on the screen (as you can do on the iPhone) but instead a plus and a minus button on the screen, or double-tap the screen to zoom.
