Siri is a feature included with iPhones in order to assist users and enhance the overall experience of using an iPhone. In order to use Siri, the phone user speaks into the phone microphone and instructs the smartphone what he or she would like to do. For example, saying “Call Jane” would result in your phone “obeying” your command and calling “Jane” or any other contact which you instructed it to.
1. It’s great if you’re busy
If you’re busy and haven’t got time or enough hands to start texting or pressing around your phone to do things, you can simply command your phone what you’d like it to do. This includes things such as sending text messages to contacts, calling friends and family, searching for things on the internet, adding event dates to your calendar and even checking the weather in various parts of the world. Although touch screen mobile phones are very easy to use, there may be occasions where you’re unable to actually pick up your phone and take the time to type things yourself.
2. Get directions when driving
When you’re driving, it’s illegal to start using your phone, so this is where Siri can be particularly useful. Touch screen mobile phones and smartphones are very popular now, and people often use them while driving as long as they can be used hands free. By activating Siri, you can ask for directions from one place to another, and you will be directed to the Maps app which will then help you to find your way. When driving, always make sure you either pull over in a safe place to use your phone or get the directions before setting off.
3. What phones does Siri work on?
Siri only works with Apple phones as it is integrated with the Apple operating system iOS. Siri was first made available for the iPhone 4S and currently also works with the iPhone 5, iPad 4 (Retina display version), the iPad mini, and the iPod touch 5.
